Where you are sin cannot be
And yet you came to get me
You gave your life up to suffering
That I might rise in glory
So I’m your child and you’re my Father
Though I was born in slavery
Still I cry Abba Father
By the Spirit in me
Bursting forth in pains of childbirth
I join creation’s groaning
I join your sons and your daughters
We the heirs you set free
My God has adopted me
The weight of sin from my family
was far too heavy for me
So you took on flesh, became a servant
And filled this slave with Spirit
So I’m your child and you’re my Father
Though I was born in slavery
Still I cry Abba Father
By the Spirit in me
Bursting forth in pains of childbirth
I join creation’s groaning
I join your sons and your daughters
We the heirs you set free
My God has adopted me
The Son of God became a human
And came to dwell among us
And now we dwell in your presence
By our life in Jesus
My God has adopted me
